Chief Justice John Roberts has finally decided to speak—but not on court-packing, not on the unprecedented attacks against conservative justices, and certainly not on the activist judges who are blatantly obstructing President Trump’s agenda. No, Roberts has remained silent through all of that. But now, after Trump dared to call for the impeachment of a judge who ruled that the U.S. government cannot deport illegal alien gang members, suddenly Roberts has something to say.

“For more than two centuries, it has been established that impeachment is not an appropriate response to disagreement concerning a judicial decision,” Roberts declared in a rare public statement.

The timing of this statement is no accident. This isn’t about Roberts defending judicial independence—it’s about Roberts protecting the activist judges who are blatantly overstepping their authority. Let’s not pretend otherwise.

Where was Chief Justice Roberts when Democrats openly called for packing the Supreme Court, demanding that Biden add additional justices to cancel out Trump’s appointments? Where was his concern for judicial independence when Chuck Schumer stood on the steps of the Supreme Court and directly threatened Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, saying they would “pay the price” for their rulings? Where was Roberts when left-wing radicals doxxed the homes of conservative justices, staged protests outside their doors, and even forced the Court to install security fences?

Silence. Not a word from John Roberts.

But now, when Trump criticizes an Obama-appointed judge for blocking the deportation of illegal alien gang members, suddenly Roberts can’t stay quiet. Now, he’s worried about the judiciary being attacked. Now, he’s concerned about impeachment being an inappropriate response.

Let’s be clear: the judiciary is already being attacked—but it’s not coming from Trump. It’s coming from activist left-wing judges who are using their unelected positions to override the President’s constitutional authority.

One activist judge just ruled that Trump must keep sending USAID funds overseas, even though as President of the United States, he has every right to cut waste, fraud, and abuse in government spending. Another judge ruled that Trump cannot deport illegal aliens who are known gang members, essentially forcing the administration to allow violent criminals to remain in the country. And this is just the beginning—activist judges have been issuing politically motivated rulings against Trump at an unprecedented rate.

So when Trump called for impeaching these rogue judges, he wasn’t just lashing out—he was doing what any elected leader should do when faced with unelected bureaucrats abusing their power. And yet, instead of addressing the actual problem, Roberts comes out of hiding just to scold Trump for daring to call it out.

Roberts claims that the appellate process exists to correct bad judicial decisions. But that’s not good enough. By the time these cases make their way through the appeals process, the damage is already done. These activist judges know exactly what they’re doing—they issue nationwide injunctions, tying up Trump’s policies for months or even years, while their rulings remain in effect. They don’t care if they’re eventually overturned because they’ve already achieved their goal—stalling, obstructing, and delaying Trump’s agenda.

This is the real crisis in our judicial system, and Roberts refuses to acknowledge it. If he were serious about defending the credibility of the courts, he wouldn’t just be issuing statements scolding Trump—he’d be intervening to stop these activist rulings before they escalate. He has the power to reign in lower courts, to push back against absurd nationwide injunctions, and to restore the integrity of the judiciary. But instead, he chooses to lecture Trump while doing absolutely nothing to stop the actual abuse of power happening in lower courts.

Roberts wants to talk about judicial norms? Fine. Let’s talk about them. The judiciary is supposed to interpret the law—not make it, not rewrite it, and certainly not act as a super-legislature with more power than the elected President of the United States. Yet that’s exactly what’s happening, and Roberts knows it. The real crisis isn’t Trump calling for impeachment—it’s that the judicial branch is being openly weaponized against a sitting President.

So no, Chief Justice Roberts, this isn’t just about “disagreement concerning a judicial decision.” This is about activist judges stepping so far out of line that they are blatantly obstructing the constitutional powers of the executive branch. If Roberts was truly concerned about preserving trust in the judiciary, he’d be taking action against these lower court judges before the Executive and Legislative branches start acting against them.

The burden isn’t on Trump to sit quietly and accept judicial overreach. The burden is on Roberts to stop pretending everything is fine while unelected judges trample on the will of the American people. If he won’t step up, then Trump has every right to fight back—and so do the voters who put him in office.
