This is rich!
If you’ve listened to the likes of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lately, you’d think the United States is currently being run by a shadowy cabal of right-wing billionaires, with the Republican Party acting as their loyal foot soldiers. They’re even out on the road, making stops across the country on their so-called “anti-oligarchy tour,” claiming to be the brave voices standing up to the elites. But like most performances put on by modern Democrats, this one is loaded with irony, hypocrisy, and political theater that falls apart under the slightest bit of scrutiny.
Let’s get one thing straight: the true party of the oligarchs in America is not the Republican Party—it’s the Democratic Party. Despite the left’s obsession with branding conservatives as corporate lackeys and Elon Musk as some kind of right-wing boogeyman, the numbers don’t lie. For every billionaire who might’ve backed Donald Trump, Kamala Harris had two. According to a recent analysis, 65% of America’s wealthiest individuals identify as Democrats. And when it comes to hedge fund managers—some of the most politically active, deep-pocketed donors in the country—a whopping 75% of them are Democrats.
So much for sticking it to the elite.
There's such irony in AOC and Bernie's anti-oligarch performance art tour. For every billionaire who backed Trump, Kamala Harris had 2. 65% of rich Americans are Democrats. 75% of hedge fund managers—you guessed it!—Democrats! Every accusation from the Democrats is a confession.

You wouldn’t know any of this if your only sources were CNN or MSNBC. These networks have spent years propping up the idea that Republicans are in bed with billionaires and tech overlords. Their current obsession with Elon Musk, now serving as head of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, has only amplified that narrative. They portray Musk as a dangerous, rogue billionaire working to dismantle “democracy,” simply because he had the audacity to stand up to the federal bureaucracy, push for transparency, and support a more efficient, limited government.
But here’s the truth: Elon Musk is one of the only billionaires in America willing to challenge the political status quo. He’s one of the only billionaires brave enough to take on the swamp, instead of actively growing it. And the reality is, as we’ve already seen, if Musk were donating millions to Democrat campaigns, he’d be hailed as a hero, just like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and George Soros—all of whom bankroll Democrat causes with little to no scrutiny from the media.
And that’s the real kicker here. While AOC and Bernie get up on stage with their fists in the air, denouncing capitalism and billionaire greed, they’re completely silent about the Democratic donors who fund their party, run their institutions, and dictate their policies. You’ll never hear them name names like Reed Hastings (Netflix), Marc Benioff (Salesforce), or Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn)—all of whom are wealthy, powerful, and loyal Democrats. Why? Because it would blow up their entire narrative.
Every accusation the Democrats make is a confession. They claim Republicans are the party of oligarchs while holding closed-door fundraisers in Hollywood mansions and Silicon Valley boardrooms. They say conservatives are anti-democracy while pouring millions into Super PACs funded by hedge fund managers and tech moguls. They accuse the GOP of being in the pocket of billionaires while their own campaigns are bankrolled by Wall Street and Big Tech.
It’s no coincidence that the cities and states with the most entrenched economic inequality—New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles—are Democrat-run from top to bottom. The left claims to be the party of the working class, but they’re backed by universities, media conglomerates, corporate giants, and global elites who benefit from cheap labor, endless regulation, and taxpayer-funded bailouts.
The left talks a big game about “economic justice,” but when it comes time to pass actual policies that help working Americans—like lowering energy prices, securing the border, or stopping inflation—they side with their elitist donor class every time.

AOC and Bernie’s “anti-oligarchy” tour might make for good soundbites, but it’s nothing more than performance art. They won’t touch the real oligarchs, because the real oligarchs are sitting in their own donor meetings, writing checks and calling the shots.
And by the way, what does is say about the state of the Democratic party if Bernie Sanders and Ocasio Cortez are the one’s who have the spotlight now? It’s no wonder their party’s approval is the lowest it’s been in decades.
If the left really wanted to stand up to billionaires and special interests, they’d start by cleaning house in their own party. Until then, spare us the sanctimony. The Republican Party is not perfect, but it is increasingly the only political force willing to challenge the corporate-government alliance that’s robbing working Americans blind.
The Democrats have become the very thing they pretend to hate. And no amount of tour buses, hashtags, or fiery speeches will change that.
